Bolee Khela meets it's 100th anniversary

Two wrestlers are fighting for their title. Every year, the traditional Bolee Khela is held on 11th Boishakh (25th April) in Chittagong that can be traced back in 1909 (1316 Bangla Year) when Abdul Jobbar Shawdagor arranged this event to unify all famous Bolee (Wrestler) of this southern region of East Bengal (Now Bangladesh). Since then, every year Chittagong is experiencing this very popular sporting event. Boishakhi Mela or Summer Festival is also arranged in Historical Laldighi’r Par to celebrate this event. This year, Bolee Khela is having it’s 100th anniversary. Contestants from many places of Bangladesh come to this event to prove their supremacy in sandy arena of Bolee Khela. Chittagong, Bangladesh. Gaibanda district is connected with three rivers Ghagot, Brahmaputra and Teesta. Every day the water level of these rivers is increasing and has crossed the terrible level reached during the '88 flood. 20 villages have been inundated with flood water affecting 2 lac people. They take shelter in the highland. Getting water for drinking and cooking becomes almost impossible. They have to depend on dry food. Liberation War of Bangladesh

Bangladesh became independent after a bloody war of nine months. This nine months cost a lot to Bangladeshis to be free from the clutches of Pakistani oppressors. They started killing in the dead of night of 25th March in 1971 and went on doing their best to destroy Bangladeshis indiscriminately. In exchange of the lives of as many as thirty lakh Bangladeshis the cherished freedom was achieved.

Pahela Baishakh (Bangla New Year)

Baishakh is the first month of Bangla year. Bangladeshis celebrate the New Bangla Year on the 1st (Pahela) Baishakh. The whole country falls in a festive mood in this day. Lots of fairs, cultural festivals, colorful rallies, seminars, exhibitions etc. are organized to celebrate the Pahela Baishakh in every part of the country. The Dhaka University campus and the Ramna area of Dhaka becomes the center point of national level celebration of this festival.
